About
CSA
Our clubs and dancers provide a schedule of competitive
Shag Dance contests throughout each year at various venues.
Our events consist of a weekend of divisional competition,
food, fun, friendships, workshops, awards and prizes primarily
throughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. We
encourage, promote, and share the love of the Carolina Shag
with all age groups. Our current schedule and member clubs
are available on this website.
Our contests promote the Shag Dance we all love and are
appreciated by all attending. Spectators are given floor
time to dance before and after the divisional competitions.
Competitors are allowed to showcase their skills for the
judges and the audience.
The Competitive Shaggers Association (CSA) is a non-profit
organization that was established in 1992 by the competitive
dancers. Over time we have established necessary rules and
regulations that determine Shag Contest sanctioning guidelines.
These guidelines are used to help ensure well managed contests
that maintain divisional integrity and utilize the fairest
and most accurate scoring system available. Judges are required
to be knowledgeable in the dance at a level commensurate
with the division being judged.
Our membership is made up of dancers from all walks of life
and levels of expertise including Amateur, Novice, and Pro
competitors. In addition, we include a friend of CSA membership
classification for those folks that wish to support the competitive
dancers and the dance.
Many of our members are instructors. Our members participate
in various Shag events throughout each year. We support and
promote the dance in many ways.
Our Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and membership applications
are available on this website.
Welcome to the Competitive Shaggers Association. Join us
by attending contests, becoming a member, dancing, or sponsoring.
We look forward to seeing you on the dance floor!
